Endoscopy
Van Isle Veterinary Hospital is proud to offer small animal endoscopy. An endoscope consists of a camera and a light source which is used to visualize the nasal passages, ear canals, airways, esophagus, stomach and colon. Endoscopy is a relatively new technology in small animal medicine, and is a non-invasive means of diagnosis and treatment, in many cases preventing unnecessary surgery. Our Hospital uses Storz Digital Endoscopes for flexible and rigid endoscopy. Videos and pictures of the procedure can be recorded and biopsies can be obtained with minimal trauma to your pet. The endoscope has proved especially useful in cases such as nasal foreign bodies, tumors which cannot be visualized any other way, and gastro intestinal foreign bodies.
Rigid endoscopy can be used for: Otoscopy, Cystoscopy, Rhinoscopy, and Transcervical AI.
Flexible endoscopy can be used for: oral, esophageal, gastric, intestinal and rectal investigations
